finnCap Group is pleased to announce it has advised Mable Therapy, the UK’s leading digital platform for children’s speech and language therapy and counselling services, on its £3.1m investment from Gresham House Ventures, a growth equity investor specialising in digitally driven businesses.

The deal is finnCap’s fourth private fundraise in the last 10 months and swiftly follows the recently announced completion of investment into CYJAX, the threat detection SaaS solution. These deals, including the successful fundraises for Seatfrog, the train ticketing app, and Ro&Zo, the sustainable women’s clothing brand, were all delivered in spite of a challenging market backdrop, evidencing the continued strength of finnCap’s cross-sector offering, using its consumer, technology and healthcare expertise to execute deals for pioneering brands.

The investment from Gresham House Ventures will enable Mable Therapy to further build out its proprietary technology platform, as well as invest in sales and marketing capabilities, helping take the business to its next stage of growth.

Founded by Martha Currie and Elliot Agró in 2015, Mable Therapy provides children with easy access to a network of therapists who deliver live sessions through the company’s online proprietary platform, allowing for a unique style of gamified therapy to be undertaken from the comfort of the user’s home. Mable offers an affordable direct-to-consumer service, as well as solutions for the education and healthcare sectors, where technology adoption is now seen as vital in addressing the growing unmet demand. In the last year alone, Mable has delivered over 22,000 hours of therapy to over 3,000 children.

As part of the investment, Gresham House Ventures has supported the appointment of Oli White as Mable’s CEO, bringing significant commercial expertise in the health and education technology sectors, including most recently as Chief Commercial Officer of Doc Abode.

Zuleika Salter, Head of Private Growth Capital at finnCap commented:

“Martha and Elliot have combined their individual expertise and shared relentless compassion to transform our broken paediatric therapy system. It is an incredible honour to work with them both.”

Martha Currie, Co-Founder and Clinical Director at Mable Therapy, said:

“Mable’s mission has always been to design a therapy format that puts children first, therapy though Mable can be fun, engaging, and effective. Our pioneering technology has already helped thousands of families and hundreds of schools, across the UK, get access to highly experienced speech therapists and psychotherapists. We have delivered over 22,000 successful sessions to over 3,000 children in the last year, and in many cases these children would simply not have been able to access therapy at this critical time in their lives. With this investment by Gresham House Ventures, we can take this support even further.”

Elliot Agró, Co-Founder and Head of Product and Technology at Mable Therapy, said:

“The investment will facilitate the development of an intra-therapy app designed to engage and empower children beyond session hours, and also allow us to further develop our school screening tools to help educators in assessing students’ mental health and speech and language needs quickly and accurately by leveraging the latest technologies available to us.

Throughout the process we have been assisted by finnCap, from start to finish Zuleika and James have been an essential part of the raising process, this is the first time we have raised institutional money and I can’t imagine how we could have done it without the incredible support we got from finnCap. Through late night conversations and a supportive environment for brainstorming, coupled with the reassurance that they were alongside us as negotiations commenced, for a modest team like Mable new to raising capital, they have skilfully made a process that could have been quite demanding feel within our reach.

Should we embark on another fundraising journey in the future, they would undoubtedly be my first point of contact.”

Benjamin Faulkner, Associate Director at Gresham House Ventures, said:

“Mable’s technology transforms the lives of children in their crucial early stages of development. There is significant growth potential for Mable within the wider education and health sectors where its technology offering can drive meaningful efficiencies for public service providers. Martha and Elliot have built an excellent business that is backed by a wealth of clinical and technological expertise, and we are confident that Mable can continue to revolutionise the provision of this vital support across the UK.”
